About the College of Communication Engineering(College of Microelectronics)

The College of Communication Engineering (College of Microelectronics) is the cradle of talented people of CHINA meteorological telecommunication. It has three undergraduate disciplines-Communication Engineering, Microelectronics Science and Engineering and Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated system, two academic master degree authorization centers-Communication and Information System, Electronic Microsystems Engineering, and two professional master degree authorization centers- New-generation Electronic Information Technology (includes Quantum Technology, etc) and Integrated Circuit Engineering.

The Communication Engineering speciality admits its students in 1978, and it is one of earliest established courses of CUIT. It has a long running history, rich teaching power, excellent running tradition and plenteous running achievements. The Communication Engineering speciality successively belongs to Department of Radio, Department of Electronic Technology, Department of Communication Engineering, School of Communication Engineering, School of Communication Engineering (School of Microelectronics), and it has 41 graduating classes which produces a lot of qualified people for communication and related industries. The Communication Engineering speciality has three orientations-wireless communication, cloud communication and communication terminals. In 2008 it was approved as a national characteristic major, in 2010 it had been the first batch of "outstanding engineers" training program majors of Ministry of Education and in 2019 it had been selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate specialty construction site. The cultivated students are favored by the industry because of solid speciality foundation, good technical ability, hard-working and other excellent qualities.

Microelectronics Science and Engineering had enrolled new students since 2006, in 2012 it was approved as experimental specialty of “Excellent Engineering Education Training Plan” of Sichuan Province, in 2019 it had been selected as the first batch of first-rate specialty construction site of Sichuan Province, and in 2020 it had been selected as first-rate national specialty construction site.Microelectronics Science and Engineering mainly raises integrated circuit design talents that not only have material technology knowledge, but also have circuit, signal and system knowledge. At present, the lack of microelectronics talents is one of key bottlenecks for the development of integrated circuit industry of China, and the cultivation of talents is urgent. The graduated students are welcomed by enterprises, and demand is exceeding supply.

The major of integrated circuit design and integrated system has enrolled new students since 2019, and it is the backbone major in the field of information technology. This major focuses on cultivating abilities of students with integrated circuits design, especially abilities of digital integrated circuits design and integrated systems design. The goal is to train students to composite and innovative advanced integrated circuit design and integrated system talents, which can engage in integrated circuit development and electronic system integration, and these talents have the ability of engineering management.

The school has 2 departments-Communication Engineering and Microelectronics, 5 teaching and research offices, and it has 2 provincial teaching centers-Sichuan 5G Communication Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center and Sichuan Integrated Circuit Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. The school has communication engineering laboratory, microelectronics laboratory and undergraduate innovation laboratory, it includes 14 sub rooms (more than 1600 square meters), 1884 sets of instrument units and 68 sets of professional design software. School has "Meteorological Information and Signal Processing" Sichuan Province Key Laboratory, "Integrated Computing and Chip Security" Sichuan Province 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center, Sichuan Province Intellectual Property Training (CUIT) Base, Advanced Integrated Circuit and Integrated System Packaging and Testing Public Technology Service Platform and school-place-enterprise 5G joint laboratory and other platforms. The school has advanced experimental equipment and design software for industry, perfect teaching and experimental system, so that students will have sufficient and superior intramural learning conditions and experimental environment.

The school has more than 90 teaching staffs, including more than 70 high-level professional teachers, 15 teaching assistant administrators and 6 specially engaged teaching and research staffs. The school has 16 professors, 20 associate professors, 55 doctors and 37 master's supervisors. The school has 1 expert that receives a special government subsidy of the State Council, 2 academic and technical leaders of Sichuan province, 2 outstanding experts with outstanding contributions of Sichuan province, 3 Sichuan thousands of people plan and Sichuan special advisors, 1 provincial master teacher, 1 Jiangsu thousands of people, 1 Sichuan Science and Technology innovation and entrepreneurship Leading Talent Program, 1 Chengdu Talents Scheme and Chengdu distinguished experts. More than 20 teachers have overseas study experiences for more than 1 year, more than 2/3 of total teachers have work experiences in enterprises for more than 1 year (includes Samsung, Canadian Space Agency andHuawei corporation, etc). In the last 3 years, the school has taken 9 national programs and more than 170 government-aided /horizontal items, received 49 million yuan, published 370 academic theses, applied more than 230 patents and published 3 books.

In the aspect of students training, the school implements lines, guidelines and policies of the Communist Party of China, persists in people cultivation and takes values guidance as starting point and objective of work. The schoolintroduces international engineering education concept-CDIO, emphasizes the integration of knowledge, ability and quality of students, develops tutorial systems, and creatively combines engineering practice, innovation and entrepreneurship projects and discipline competitions of students, so that a full set of comprehensive three-dimensional refined student guidance systems have been formed. At the same time, the school has established internship and training bases with more than 30 famous enterprises, to form a “whole-process, all members and overall” education environment, hence, knowledge system learning, patents and papers publishing, engineering technology capability and innovation capabilities of students have been promoted. In the last three years, students have won 9 national, 17 provincial and 52 school level Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program of undergraduates, besides, students have won many national and provincial awards for “Internet+”, “Challenge Cup” and other technological competitions, the number of awards ranks near the top in the universities, and many students have obtained several A-level certifications of comprehensive quality. Among the graduates, there are many outstanding graduates, such as founder of billili-Chen Rui, founder of Mafengwo-Chen Gang, president of BeijingSinnet technology CO., LTD-Yang Yuhang.

For IC design, communication equipment manufacturing, communication network construction, signal processing and transmission, mobile Internet application development, big data and cloud processing, artificial intelligence and other fields, the school takes the “diligence, trust, perfection and excellence” spirit to cultivate a number of excellent design research and engineering talents.
