Integrated circuit Experimental teaching center of Chengdu University of Information Technology

The integrated circuit (IC) experimental teaching center of Chengdu University of Information Technology (CUIT) was founded in 2006. It was established under the background of the construction and expansion of electronic information subjects and the enrollment of microelectronics Science and engineering in CUIT.

From 2006 to 2015, the IC experimental teaching center was mainly designed to meet the requirements of undergraduate experimental teaching for microelectronics majors. With a total investment of more than 10 million yuan, the school has built experimental system platforms such as the laboratory of microelectronics materials, the laboratory of microelectronics devices, the IC design laboratory, the IC layout design laboratory, the microsystem packaging and testing laboratory, and the electronic microsystem laboratory. These experimental system platforms meet the teaching needs of microelectronics science and engineering, communication engineering and other majors in IC.

The laboratory of microelectronics materials is mainly responsible for engineering practice and graduation design related to microelectronics materials. The main equipment of the laboratory is pure water machine, electronic analysis balance, temperature and humidity test box, high temperature drying box, homogenizing machine and so on.

The microelectronics device laboratory is mainly responsible for the "Principles of Microelectronics devices" and the engineering practice and graduation tasks related to microelectronics devices and processes. The laboratory is equipped with semiconductor transistor characteristic graph instrument, C-V tester, I-V tester, LCR tester and four probe tester.

The IC (layout) design laboratory undertakes the course experiment and graduation design tasks such as "Digital IC Design", "Analog IC Design" and "RF IC Design". The lab is equipped with a DELL server and 48 PCS. CADENCE, ADS, SYNOPSYS COSSAP and other software for teaching are installed.

The microsystem packaging and testing laboratory undertakes the experiment of "IC Packaging and Testing" and the related engineering practice and graduation design tasks. The lab is equipped with equipment for the entire process of PCB board engraving to chip microsystem packaging, circuit board reflow soldering, to final aging and testing. There are also gold ball welding machine, PCB circuit board engraving machine, reflow furnace, manual probe station, electronic load and mixed signal test platform. At the same time, it is equipped with high and low temperature test box, vector network tester, probe station, mixed signal generator and other high-end test equipment.

The electronic microsystem laboratory undertakes the course experiments of "Embedded System Design", "FPGA Technology", "SOC Design" and other related engineering practice and graduation design tasks. The lab is equipped with DELL server, PC, STM32, Altera SOPC development board, etc. There are also supporting QuartusII, modelsim and other software environments.

After 2015, the IC experimental teaching center entered a new stage of development. The university has integrated university-level resources, expanding from serving the two majors of microelectronics and communication engineering in the college of communication engineering to serving the five majors in the two colleges of communication engineering and optoelectronic engineering. It has expanded from serving undergraduate teaching to serving undergraduate teaching, postgraduate teaching and scientific research. In 2015, the university applied for the establishment of the sichuan collaborative innovation center for integrated computing and chip security. In 2016, the school of communication engineering and the school of optoelectronics jointly created IC industry chain talent training.

The school of communication engineering focuses on strengthening chip design. A master's degree program in electronic microsystems engineering and IC engineering has been established. The school also applied for a new major in IC design and integrated systems. At the same time, the school invested 500,000 yuan to expand the integrated circuit design platform, adding two IC design servers and more than 40 sets of terminal PCS. The school also further strengthened the course experiments in the direction of digital IC design and verification. In 2019, chengdu economy and information technology commission supported 6.98 million yuan. In 2020, the government of shuangliu district of chengdu supported about 5 million yuan. The school aims to build a public social service platform for packaging and testing in chengdu city and a platform for student practice.

So far, the IC experimental teaching center of CUIT has been built into 4 experimental teaching platforms. The experimental teaching center covers the practical teaching platform of the whole IC industry chain, including microelectronics materials, microelectronics devices, IC design, integrated circuit manufacturing process, IC packaging and testing, and IC microsystem application. The total laboratory area reaches more than 2000 square meters, and the total assets reach more than 30 million yuan. The experimental teaching center serves a number of master's majors in two first-level disciplines of the school, namely microelectronics science and engineering, IC design and integrated system, electronic science and technology, optoelectronic information science and engineering, communication engineering undergraduate majors and electronic science and technology, information and communication engineering.

At present, the construction level of IC experimental teaching center is in the leading level of similar majors in domestic universities. The center will continue to practice the innovative industry characteristics and the combination of information technology experimental teaching personnel training model. The center is people-oriented, the pursuit of excellence, and effectively improve students' comprehensive design and innovation ability. The center strives to make more and greater contributions to serving national strategic needs and regional economic and social development.
