2025-11-05 15:17 Yue Shi

On the morning of October 25, Professor Hasan, an internationally renowned expert in biomedical engineering and cognitive science at the American University of Sharjah, was invited to visit the School of Communication Engineering (School of Microelectronics) and gave a lecture entitled "Cognitive Load Management: Increased Alertness and Stress Relief" to teachers and students in Conference Room 7 of the Administration Building Cutting-edge academic lectures. This event is an important measure for the college to promote international academic exchanges and deepen the interdisciplinary research of brain science and information engineering.

The symposium was presided over by Associate Professor Shi Yue of the college. Professor Xue Yajuan, Vice Dean of the College, attended and delivered a speech, and Professor Ye Song, Professor Zhang Bin and other teacher representatives, as well as many teachers and students from the college, attended the event.

In the lecture, Professor Hasan focused on "cognitive load management"This topic systematically expounds the relationship between alertness and psychological stress, introduces cognitive load assessment methods based on physiological signals such as EEG (electroencephalography) and fNIRS (functional near-infrared spectroscopy), and shares its latest research results in multimodal neurofeedback and non-invasive brain stimulation. He emphasized that through advanced signal processing and machine learning technology, quantitative evaluation and improvement of cognitive efficiency can be achieved, which is of great significance for continuous attention tasks such as driving monitoring and air traffic management.

Professor Hasan gave academic sharing

In the Q&A session, the professors and students had in-depth discussions with Professor Hasan on issues such as "potential applications of brain-computer interfaces in communication systems" and "signal recognition challenges under multitasking loads", and further discussed the possibility of future cooperation in EEG signal processing and intelligent sensing systems. The on-site interaction was warm and the academic atmosphere was strong.

Teachers and students interact and communicate

After the lecture, Professor Hasan took a group photo with the participants. This exchange activity not only deepened the understanding of teachers and students in the intersection of cognitive science and information engineering, but also laid a solid foundation for our college to carry out international cooperation and scientific research collaboration in related directions.
