About the College of Communication Engineering
Li (Alex) Li

The undergraduate course of communication Engineering admitted its students in 1978. Since then, it was separately under supervision of Departments of Radio, Electronics and Communication Engineering. Until 2014, about 6000 students have graduated from the program in their 32 graduation ceremonies. It was one of earliest founded courses in the school with long history of great success and solid teaching and research quality. During the past 35 years, it tightly tracks the development of communication technology, and focus on talent fostering on communication technology related fields. The School of Communication Engineering was founded in Jan. 2005. The school has since become a large community of over 59 teaching, research and support staff and 1138 undergraduates, whom are involved in two different undergraduate programs (BEng in Communication Engineering and BEng in Micro-Electronics Science and Engineering). The former one with 30 years undergraduates teaching and lecturing experiences is one of undergraduate courses with great success and reputation, and it was awarded State-Characteristic Course in 2008. The other was awarded Sichuan Provincial Talented Engineer Training Scheme in 2012. The school has established four leading research labs including Modern Communication, Computer Communication, Embedded Systems, Optical Communication and Micro-Electronics, as well as two undergraduate labs in Communication Engineering and Micro-Electronics, respectively. The labs cover over 1000 meter square and are equipped with 1107 devices, the total value of which is over 13 million Yuan. Additionally, the Key Lab of Provincial Higher Educational Institute (Real-time digital signal processing and application) has 11 devices with the total value of over 10 million Yuan.

The School has since grown to be a well-organized teaching and research team with excellent and solid academic background, and 48 full-time academic staff (14 Professors, 15 associates, 24 master supervisors, 60% staff have senior titles ). Furthermore, 20 staff (around 42% staff) have PhD degrees, and 8 staff are PhD candidates. 70% staffs are under 45 years. One staff has been admitted to the State One-thousand Talented Scheme. One has joined State “125” Plan Military Integrated Circuits expert. Two staff are offered with the special allowance of the State Council. Two have been awarded the title of national outstanding contribution experts. One has joined Sichuan provincial One-thousand Talented Scheme. Four have been elected as candidates of Sichuan provincial academic and technology leaders. Majority of staff have worked for enterprises with great engineering experiences. Some have studied and worked abroad with oversea background.
